first-offense DUI in the U.S. and don't qualify for Criminal Rehabilitation or TRP - affect or a Canadian work permit

I have a question regarding my eligibility for a Canadian work permit. I have a DUI case in the United States, first offense, which is relatively recent. Given my circumstances, I do not currently qualify for either Criminal Rehabilitation (as it has not been five years since my DUI conviction) or a Temporary Resident Permit (TRP) due to the recent nature of my case.

Could you please advise whether this DUI will affect my eligibility for obtaining a Canadian work permit, and if so, what alternative options I might have?

Your situation is quite complex. Since you have a recent DUI (Driving Under the Influence) offense in the United States, this could be considered criminal inadmissibility under Canadian immigration law, which may affect your eligibility to obtain a Canadian work permit.

Additionally, since it has not been five years since the conviction, you are currently not eligible for Criminal Rehabilitation, and due to the recent nature of the offense, you may also not qualify for a Temporary Resident Permit (TRP) at this time.

Given these circumstances, we strongly recommend that you consult with an immigration lawyer who specializes in Canadian immigration law. A qualified lawyer can assess your case in detail and determine whether there might be any possible pathways forward—such as a TRP application based on compelling reasons, or preparation for future rehabilitation eligibility.
