I currently accepted a job offer at a University with an H1B(no cap for university H1B). My current j1 2-year duty is successfully waived. The current J1 will expire on May 30, 2020(still valid for one month). I have a few questions about my situation that need your help with:
1 ) New employer(university) international office suggested me to transfer my j1. it would be under the same SEVIS ID, but will generate a new DS-2019 form. Would I be re-attached to the 2-year duty if we transfer the J1?;
2) if new employer (university) file an H1B petition for me before the J1 expires, Can I stay in the US while my current j1 expires but the H1B is still pending?
