An F-1 individual who has applied for an immigrant petition (ex. EB1A) may apply for F-1 OPT and usually should get OPT. Your immigration petition should not affect your OPT application. However, the filing of an I-485 may make you ineligible to receive the F-1 OPT/EAD if your school becomes aware that you filed an I-485. But, even if your OPT/EAD application is denied, you should not lose your F-1 status so long as you continue to take a full time level of course work.
